Living "green" in Arizona just got a little easier. Set up in the desert, indigoModern is creating an ultra-urban, ultra-sustainable, green prefab-esqe lifestyle just minutes from downtown Tucson. According to their website, their goal is to create living spaces that use less energy, fewer natural resources and is environmentally responsible. Definitely...and especially if you are going to live in Arizona. I mean that place can get blazing hot during the summer months and if you don't have some sort of energy saving strategy...utility costs can blow through the roof. Each home is pre-wired for solar panels (which is cool) and pre-plumbed for solar hot water. They also have set up a system to harvest rainwater to water the gardens. Low emitting paints, bamboo floors, and treated glass are some other features of this prefab community in the desert.
Brokered by Metro Realty Advisors, LLC (pre-construction pricing begins at $378,900 for 3 bed 2 bath and 1800 sq. ft.), all homes come with what is called a TEP Comfort Guarantee. Sponsored by Tucson Electric, each home was inspected to make sure things like high-rated insulation was installed right (keeping outside heat OUT) and the heating and cooling system was properly balanced, guaranteeing up to a 35% savings on electric bills. Nice job on the energy savings...wondering about the pricing (too high?). Close to the University of Arizona, indigoModern places their occupants close to everything that is needed for an active, green lifestyle (including a Wild Oats market is across the street!).
