I came across the images on flickr...they were taken by photographer Roger Carey who lives in Hong Kong.

UPDATE: Got an update on this story...although I originally found pictures of these pods on flickr, tranism.com has more information. Apparently the city is called San Zhi and it was a government commissioned podular housing project that never came to fruition. Apparently a bunch of people died trying to build this "vacation spot" and so no one was interested in ever visiting after it was built. Locals now say the area is haunted. Anyway, check out the link for more pictures.
