Toilet-Shaped Home To Promote Global Sanitation [Suweon, Korea]
How would you like to rent a $1.6 million toilet-shaped house for $50,000 a day? Not only will you get to sleep in a toilet-shaped house, but your proceeds will be donated to a campaign to provide poor countries with proper sanitary facilities. Nicknamed "Mayor Toilet" during his term as Suweon Mayor in the mid-to-late nineties, Slim Jae-Duck hopes his toilet house will highlight the global need for better sanitation. To promote environmental awareness of this topic, Mr. Slim will host the World Toilet Association's inaugural meeting, which is slated to attract 300 representatives from 70 different countries, letting those in attendance visit his unique house. Is that toilet house dual-flush? Check it out here.

Actually, the articles states that during his term as Mayor of Suweon, Mr. Slim renovated public restrooms in the city by jazzing them up with paintings, fresh flowers or even small gardens. I lived in Korea from 1996-1998 and went to Suweon a couple times, but I don't remember the bathrooms necessarily. I do remember Suweon being a little bit cleaner than the other cities I lived in...maybe that was due to Mr. Slim!

Great post. This is a very "out of the box" approach to global sanitation.
