Wired Magazine ran an interesting article this week about Intel CEO, Andy Grove, calling for 10 million plug-in convestion over 4 years. We are talking about your Ford F-150, your Toyota Tundra, your Chevy Silverado, your car or your truck. For between $10,000 and $15,000 (price currently unknown) you can slap a electric vehicle conversion kit and see an increase of 30-50% in your fuel economy. One company, EV Power Systems, is testing a kit that wouldn't change or modify the engine, emissions system or any other major piece of equipment under the hood. So, I guess my question is...
...would I rather pay upwards of $15,000 to convert my current vehicle or take that money and put it towards a new Prius or hybrid vehicle and choke down a new car monthly payment? Couple things, if the conversion kits become very popular and successful, the technology will get better and the price should come down a bit (supply and demand) and performance should increase. But it might be nice to get a brand new car where you know all the components are working together and have been tested properly. What's in it for Andy? Not sure, maybe Intel has created a new chip for the conversion kit and this is a home run for Andy. Like T. Boone Pickens, I think Andy is doing what he can to help the country get off our dependence on foreign oil.

Hey, this is Alex from Arizona. You know, last year I also had a website and I was also interested in getting sales and increasing my website revenue, this is kind of off the subject, but I just came across a company called Hot Search Marketing on a different blog: http://rateyourinternetmarketing.blogspot.com.
Have you heard about them? They're supposed to offer free seo and ppc management services and only charge for leads. I think this is awesome, and if it's true, I think you should check out their site at: http://www.hothelpsyousell.com.
Anyway, keep up the good writing and if you do try them out, shoot me an email or just write a post review about them.
I'll be coming back to your blog
Cheers!

Exacly, right now to go for a prious would be the best option, but as you say, if the technology becomes popular it will also become cheaper and more people will be able to afford it

You can actually create your own electric car kit and convert to 100% electric for as little as $300! You will have to install the componets or hire someone to do it for you, but it's much less expensive than buying a brand new car.
There is a lot of free info and a manual which explains it all over at www.electriccarkitz.com, if you are thinking of buying an electric car, you want to do your research first.

I just wanted to say thank you to the author for that fantastic post!
My girlfriend and I loved chilling by the gas fireplace in our first house. There is absolutely nothing like being able to begin a fire instantly to warm up a chilly room. The greatest part of having a gas fireplace was that we did not have to mess around with chopping our personal wood, or having it delivered. It was great to not have to worry about trudging through the snow to get more wood as well. Plus I mean let's face it, wooden burning fireplaces are a pain to clean. They're also more dangerous if any stray embers pop out onto the carpet! Too bad we live in Florida now and do not require fireplaces anymore, otherwise we'd still have 1!

I haven't heard anything about these conversion kits lately, but with gas prices soaring how they are I would love to learn more about them.

I wonder if we can convert our family's ride here in Edmonton into an electric car. It's a jeep, by the way. If that's possible, then I guess I'll convert! My wife's pro-environment, so I think she'll accept that decision. If we can't convert it, I wonder if the dealers here can offer me an electric car.
